Kajima launches The Gear, its new regional HQ in Changi Business Park

On August 4th, Kajima Development Pte Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Kajima Corp, officially launched its new regional headquarters, R&D and innovation hub located in Changi Business Park, Singapore.

One of the most attractive aspects of the Tampines Ave 11 Condo UOL Group is its prime location at Tampines Ave 11. This makes it easily accessible to major road networks, such as the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE), the Tampines Expressway (TPE) and the Downtown Line (DTL). Residents can enjoy quick and easy access to both the Central Business District (CBD) and Changi Airport via the MRT. With a variety of restaurants, supermarkets, banks, schools, recreational spots and shopping malls just a few minutes away, Tampines Ave11 Condo UOL Group is an ideal home for families and singles alike.

Named The Gear: Kajima Lab for Global Engineering, Architecture & Real Estate, the firm has had its sights on establishing a base in the area for almost a decade.

The late Dr Shoichi Kajima initiated the project, tasking the company to lay down an anchor for the region. “It embodies Kajima’s commitment to a sustainable, connected and future-ready Singapore,” according to CEO of Kajima Development Shuichi Oishi.

The state-of-the-art facility is designed by Kajima’s in-house team of architects and engineers based in Japan. It also marks the company’s first global R&D and innovation hub.

Located on the site of Changi Business Park, construction first began in August 2020 and despite disruption caused by the pandemic, the building was finally completed in March 2021 and even obtained a Temporary Occupation Permit (TOP).

Driving the R&D is Kajima Technical Research Institute Singapore, a research hub that has been based in Singapore since 2013. The institute is dedicated to speeding up the process of developing innovative solutions to climate change and urbanisation challenges.

In addition to its current venture, Kajima also has a long history with the island republic, namely of its first project in 1962, the Maruzen Oil Refinery, followed by the Jurong Shipyard Dock & Wharf in 1965.

Singapore’s first ever regional Connect@Changi – an ideal place for holding business meetings – also opened its doors in Changi Business Park in December 2020.
